Founded by Martin Kornbek Hansen in 2010 and bought by the Danish brand Hay in 2016, the Danish company &Tradition (AndTradition) strives to combine timeless classics with a more contemporary design that relies on high quality and excellent craftsmanship. This is why pieces created by well established Danish designers, such as Verner Panton, Arne Jacobsen or Flemming Lassen, and designs by up-and-coming talents like Norm Architects and Sebastian Herkner, can perfectly coexist. From the new version of the Flowerpot lamp to the iconic Margas LC2 lounge chair, &Tradition's furniture embraces a sustainable production, centred on the use of natural materials and respect for the environment.
Originally designed to decorate restaurants, Verner Panton's Flowerpot VP9 portable polycarbonate lamp has also become a popular choice for domestic use. Characterised by a retro charm, it is equipped with a dimmer that allows you to choose between 3 intensity levels (100% - 50% - 20%) and it is available in a broad range of colours, five of which were presented in 2023: Cobalt Blue, Swim Blue, Vermilion Red, Tangy Pink and Dark Plum. The dome-shaped design of the lampshade reflects a distinct and playful style, perfect to decorate any space.
Lightweight and with a smaller size compared to the table version, Flowerpot VP9 comes with a USB charging cable.
Characterised by strong lines and soft shapes, the Inland AV22 sofa from &Tradition seating collection provides supreme comfort and relaxation, enhanched by the armrests height and an impressive seat depth with extra soft cushions. The black steel base supports the frame and brings a sense of lightness to this comfortable sofa that almost seems to float. Available in two or three-seater versions with a choice of six colour options, Inland is the perfect synthesis of Italian elegance and Scandinavian minimalism. Designed by Luisa Liljencrantz, the Margas LC2 lounge chair, named after the designer's beloved grandmother, is characterised by a simple yet sculptural form.
The underlying idea of the award-winning designer was to create a functional and flexible piece of furniture that could hold court in the centre of a room, perfect to create a comfortable and evocative atmosphere. The chair is equipped with a swivel base and is available in a range of soft colours.
The Margas LC1 lounge chair and the Margas LC3 two-seater sofa complete the collection.
The Betty stool, named after the Betty Nansen theatre in Copenhagen, features a sturdy lacquered oak frame and a seat with hand-woven natural linen fibre straps. The hard lines of the stool are softened by the delicacy of the four available colours and the beauty of the materials. Available in two heights, Betty can be used as indoor seating in both private homes and commercial properties. Designed by Jakob Thau and Sami Kallio for &Tradition, it perfectly embodies the Scandinavian style for its choice of natural materials and approach to production.
Designed by the founders of Space Copenhagen to furnish the SAS Royal Hotel, the Loafer chair stands out for its elegance and creates a sense of intimacy even in spaces as large as the hotel lobby. Its delicate and sinuous shapes resemble those of the lounge chair belonging to the same series and recall the hotel's signature spiral staircase and circular columns. Lighter, with a higher seat and sloped armrests to comfortably support the arms, Loafer is fully upholstered and available in different colour shades.
