Versatile and talented artist, Tom Dixon has conquered the international design panorama thanks to his eclectic and creative flair. After stepping onto the stage of the 1980s funk music scenario, the Art Director and Founder of the homonymous lighting brand has made his memorable entrance into the design world, giving rise to authentic luminous poetic statements.
Evoking molten glass, the interior of a melting glacier, or images of deep space, Melt echoes the traits of an organic and natural illumination. Melt lights are created through a process of blow moulding and vacuum metallization to obtain melted orbs with copious and peculiar luminosity. The delicate mirror finishes outline deep and enfolding aesthetics, becoming hyper reflective when turned off, but translucent and vibrant when switched on.
With its authentic handmade luminous sculpture, Beat celebrates the genuine value of true craftsmanship. Each Beat lamp is made from hand spun brass forged by skilled craftsmen in Northern India. Retaining the hammer marks from their creation, these pieces are welded, beaten and finally skimmed on a lathe with enthusiastic attention to detail, a unique feature that gives rise to profoundly soft luminous effects.
Lighting up the stage with an iconic silhouette, the sculptural appeal of Wingback is inspired by the traditional Wingback and Balloon-Back archetypes from the 17th century. The armchair features a foam shell covering that conceals a steel frame with modelled plywood base. Expressive, sinuous and enwrapping, Wingback welcomes you in an ideal hug, ensuring maximum visual and seating comfort.
