Astep's latest lighting collection unveils designer re-editions and new projects
The artful balance between past, present, and innovation, nestled between Italian roots and the welcoming embrace of the new Danish home. Here, Alessandro Sarfatti, grandson of the visionary Gino, founded Astep—a beacon guiding us into the future of lighting, while remaining firmly anchored in the rich history of great design. This narrative echoes through the new collection, paying homage to bygone eras with re-editions of iconic pieces while exploring new concepts with high-tech designs.
In the variety of 2023 re-editions, a new addition graces the renowned Le Sfere series: the Model 1081 floor lamp by Gino Sarfatti, originally designed in 1959. This evocative interpretation of the timeless sphere design stands out with its slender and sophisticated profile, serving not just as a decorative element but also casting a gentle, warm glow.
Gino Sarfatti's unmistakable touch also graces the Model 1095 lamp. Here the designer skillfully plays with a clear disproportion between the base and the slender tubular body, offered in three different heights, topped by a small shade. In this re-edition, the electronic component is discreetly concealed within the base, and a refreshing update comes in the form of advanced LED technology.
With the new collection, Astep brings back a masterpiece of modern design conceived by Osvaldo Borsani in 1954. The new LT8 lamp now features a dimmable LED module integrated within fluorescent tubes. The design's inherent flexibility allows for the orientation of the light source, while its slender profile gracefully occupies space like a sculptural presence.
The Isol collection, designed by David Thulstrup and incorporating Snowsound technology®, seamlessly merges the elegance of sculptural design with cutting-edge acoustic features. Anchored in a minimalist concept, the cylindrical form, enveloped in a unique fabric enhancing sound absorption, radiates light with a subdued and refined aesthetic.
