Play with me: baby design

The design masterpieces get tinier to enter the wonderful world of children. This happens for Series 7, the famous family of chairs and stools by Arne Jacobsen, also presented by Fritz Hansen in their Junior oak version.

Small sizes, big emotions. The pieces for the world of kids are designed with the same attention to details and quality as furniture for adults. An example? Lou Lou Ghost, the mini size of Philippe Stark’s Louis Ghost for Kartell, reproduced in its original silhouette, material and ergonomics.

More and more furniture companies are releasing designer pieces for children. Among these, Vitra with Panton Junior, the "small version" of the Panton Chair by Verner Panton, available in a broad range of new colors, from pink to mint green, lightweight and practical for kids, and also suitable for outdoor use.

Some brands dedicate an entire collection to children, just like Lago does with Kids&Young. From the LagoLinea bookcase to liven up the bedroom with suggestive graphics, to the Lagolinea bed, self-standing on glass legs or wall-mounted, up to the Tangram modular bookcase that can be configured to create the most original shapes, all furniture designed by Daniele Lago.

In 2002 Eugenio Perazza, founder of Magis, conceived Magis Me Too, driven by the desire to give his granddaughter Anna a drawing table. This is how Me Too was born, not a simple smaller version of a designer article: a piece with evolved features as those for adults, but easier to use and suitable for children at the same time. Just like Piedras, a line of stone-shaped chairs and coffee tables by Javier Mariscal, The roof chair by Spalvieri&Del Ciotto, seat, cover and game, up to Villa Julia, also by Mariscal, a cardboard house to customize with stickers.

Children furnishings combine soft shapes, lightness, color, durable and safe materials, as in the Snow chair by Odo Fioravanti for Pedrali: stackable, suitable for both outdoor and indoor spaces, made of polypropylene charged with glass fibers and injection molded using gas air molding technology, which makes it solid and light at the same time.

The shapes are playful, for furniture elements that invite to fun. Like the Rabbit Chair, for both adults and children, designed by Stefano Giovannoni for Qeeboo: the idea of turning a kind, friendly and discreet rabbit into a chair arose from the correlation of the two silhouettes, and the long ears of the animal thus became a backrest. A much-loved animal by Giovannoni, so much to be proposed also in the Rabbit lamp, in different sizes and also in a rechargeable cordless version.
