Both the new collection and preview share the commonality of the synthesis of aesthetics and functionality, but also the welcoming elements and care that make the material, fabrics and textures protagonists.
With the approach, the new Ethimo 2022 collection and the 2023 preview fit perfectly into the philosophy of one of the most prestigious outdoor design brands: sofas, daybeds, armchairs, tables and swings that furnish outdoor spaces with personality, modernity and sophisticated elegance.
"A new line of outdoor furniture for living by the sea." It is in this way that Ethimo defines one of its new collections of 2023, the Costiera + Baia designed by Christophe Pillet. Consisting of two types of seats that want to take their places within the maritime landscapes par excellence, as their two names suggest.
Not only that, because the audacity is to want to furnish outdoor spaces in the middle of the sea: on a yacht. Costiera and Baia interpret "the boat as a space that can be inhabited without limits, a place to be furnished in a refined and comfortable way, and where interiors are in a constant relationship with the outside".
Ethimo's intent to furnish dining areas en plein air continues. With style and personality Bold succeeds perfectly, a new collection of “sculpture” tables reminiscent of megalithic architecture. Two elements stand out: formal simplicity on the one hand, material substance on the other, with exceptionally scenographic effects
It can be said that no outdoor environment is complete without the right lighting, the personality of the accessories and the texture on which all the other furniture rests. In fact, in the 2023 preview there is also space for Woody by Marc Sadler: a floor lamp with a tripod structure, which infuses light and warmth thanks to its material from which it is made and from which it takes its name - wood, of course, and in particular natural teak. And also Bulbi: six vases with different shapes, sizes, and textures, to be combined to create fascinating scenographies, all in perfect dialogue with nature thanks to their distinct materiality.
There is also room for Nodi, the new collection of outdoor rugs designed by Paola Navone: "Soft and full-bodied, made with macro yarns in different shades of colour. The grain weave draws geometric and abstract patterns in the weave. This poetic and delicate effect recalls the sense of living that belongs to the Mediterranean soul."
Venexia again, but this time extended to incorporate a new dining set. Luca Nichetto inaugurates next year's collection maintaining the same structure characterised by the combination of thin aluminum strips, both for the armchairs and the table. It goes without saying that the refinement and elegance typical of its design are also maintained, with round and sinuous shapes that furnish not only a lounge space but now also the dining area.
Matteo Thun & Antonio Rodriguez draw inspiration from the maritime world, combining teak wood and polypropylene rope with a herringbone weave. This is how Allaperto Nautic was born, a series of seats among which the suspended armchairs stand out and in particular the swing with its self-supporting structure, which make it possible to enjoy the pleasure of relaxing in the open air.
A two-seater sofa, lounge armchair, pouf and coffee table: together they make up the Rotin collection by Zanellato/Bortotto, which has marked the Ethimo summer of 2022. The structure of all the elements is the same, tubular in pickled teak, joined together with nautical rope. The inspiration comes from Asia and its tradition of using bamboo as an outdoor furniture element. To recall that world and its flavours are also the fabric colours, bright, luminous and intense, and the table tops, which combine stone and three types of marble: Verde Guatemala, Cipollino and Bardiglio. Rotin is freshness, a furniture series that fills our places of conviviality in the open air with vivality, warmth and beauty.
Calipso does it with elegance and essentiality. And the refined contexts that Ilaria Marelli's collection manages to create are “tailor-made”, given the modular elements which can be composed at will. The base of the sofas is made with different sized natural teak slats, under which hides quite literally, an almost invisible aluminum frame. Above, the large cushions are not fixed to the structure, all in the name of flexibility which characterises the entire series, allowing the sofa to be instantly transformed into a lounge bed. The coffee tables, round and rectangular in form, resume the same soft lines, with ceramic stone tops available in two colours, Ice White and Brown.
The new inspiration comes from "70s vintage camping". The Sling collection, designed by Studiopepe, is the emblem of simplicity and freedom, of "that relaxed elegance typical of when one is on holiday". The armchair, footrest and coffee table have tubular stainless steel structures and, in the first two elements, covers made with Elitìs fabrics in different patterns and colours. The possibilities of styles and customisations are endless, as is the comfort of an ergonomic seat that combines stability and resistance.
The great strength of Ethimo consists in the knowledge of how to create a contemporary design starting from the influence exerted by past eras. In the case of Luca Nichetto's Venexia collection, the reference is the late nineteenth century and its urban furniture. The aluminum body recalls old railings and the welcomingly soft and generously shaped cushions, simultaneously provide feelings of both strength and lightness.
In the case of the coffee tables, the aluminum combines with a stone top; in the case of the lounge chairs, the aluminum contrasts with the warm shades of the cushion fabrics, made with recycled materials and waterproof padding.
