Gio Ponti (Milan, November 18, 1891 - Milan, September 16, 1979) was one of the masters of 20th century architecture. From the great architectural works to the vast furniture production. A great promoter of Italian industrial design, he embraced the idea of mass production in interior design as a "sophisticated", economic, "democratic" and modern solution.
The Molteni&C Heritage Collection reissue project was born in collaboration with the Gio Ponti Archives. The Ponti heirs have decided to strengthen their relationship with Molteni&C, entrusting the company with the production of the master's furniture on a worldwide exclusive basis, with the sole exception of pieces already produced by third parties at the date of the agreement. The pieces in the collection are the result of a meticulous examination of drawings, photos and old materials that have made it possible to faithfully reproduce the furnishings in every detail, bringing his forgotten masterpieces back to light.
The Heritage Collection, which grows richer every year, includes furniture designed by Gio Ponti between 1935 and the 1950s. Starting from the original designs, the new pieces have been industrially produced through the application of the latest technologies and processes, in line with Molteni&C's concept of contemporary living.
