Molteni&C 2023 collection: between elegance and tradition
Inspired by the layout of the ancient Roman Domus, the designs presented at the 2023 Salone del Mobile by Molteni&C with Vincent Van Duysen as art director, celebrate the home and the seamless connection between indoor, outdoor and shared spaces. Unique pieces - like the Mateo table or the Porta Volta chair - create a relaxing and inviting atmosphere, eloquently embodying Italian-made excellence.
Available in a variety of configurations and sizes, the Mateo table echoes the rounded shape of traditional tables reinterpreting it in a dynamic and contemporary twist. It features a flared cylindrical base that ensures solidity, and is only interrupted by a vertical central opening that conveys a light and delicate feel. Mateo, featured in Molteni&C's new 2023 collection, is sure to take centre stage in any space. It can be purchased with exclusive finishes and with the Lazy Susan swivel system in the 160 cm and 180 cm versions, which is perfect for emphasising the idea of sharing.
Designed by Herzog & de Meuron for Molteni&C, the Porta Volta chair combines the beauty of the U-shaped solid wood frame's rigid forms - true architectural protagonists - and the comfort of the upholstered seat. The construction of the chair includes a slight inclination of the legs and backrest for added support, and a finger joint connecting the upper part to the frame underneath. In addition to being visually striking, Porta Volta invites relaxation with its upholstery that is available in a wide range of fabrics and is perfect for embellishing any domestic or contract space. The chair is offered in two different sizes, with a height of 71 cm or of 66 cm.
Created by Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa, the Tuscany chaise longue features a flowing, sinuous shape inspired by the rolling hills of Tuscany that ensures total comfort, blending in seamlessly with diverse interior design styles. Perfectly tailored to the body's shape, the chaise longue is available in two versions: one with a matt lacquered eucalyptus and brass finish, the other with a natural Sunrise oak finish.The combination of the Japanese and the Italian worlds lends Tuscany a unique and innovative design, with well-defined proportions and solid wood legs. The cylindrical headrest is equipped with adjustable straps that allow you to choose the most convenient position.
Sitting in Naoto Fukasawa's Cinnamon armchair feels like being wrapped in a soft embrace. With an essential yet generous form and a stretch jersey fabric upholstery, Cinnamon invites you to relax and unwind. The armchair results from the combination of two elements: a U-shaped part that defines the frame and backrest, and a bulbous seat with a removable cushion complementing this harmonious design.
