Orange is the new black mood
Lamps, sofas, beds, chairs and armchairs: when the timeless design icons and the latest furniture arrivals turn orange, the effect is amazing. The colour also recalls the elegance and timeless style of the past, especially the 60’s. From Flos to Artemide, passing through Vitra, Cassina and Giorgetti. The best world-renowned brands have created true furniture jewels which with a bold, warm colour and a strong personality, design unique landscapes and add details that cannot go unnoticed.
The Esosoft modular sofa designed by Antonio Citterio for Cassina is an “exoskeleton for soft cushions”, characterised by flowing and organic lines. The aluminium shell supports a soft padding that promises comfort, in a beautiful orange colour that evokes the style of the 60’s. If the flavour evoked by the colour recalls the elegance of the past, the materials and manufacturing techniques focus without doubt on the present, as they are consciously studied with a sustainable approach.
One can immediately recognise Patricia Urquiola’s brilliant and creative touch in both the form and colour of the table with a strong personality designed for Glas Italia. The Bisel coffee table is made of multi-layered and multi-coloured crystal glass, obtained from the superimposition of five crystal layers with films of different colours. The orange version fully meets the brand’s demand: that of creating “precious furniture jewels”.
From the design of Carlo Colombo for Giorgetti comes a queen size bed that recalls the style and the soft lines of the 1930s which the designer himself defines as “romantic and poetic”. The headboard is soft and enveloping, with provision for two bedside tables to be hooked to the bed frame. A new concept by Giorgetti that amazes and strikes, especially as the bedroom is lit by a bright orange glow.
Achille and Pier GIacomo Castiglioni designed the lamp in 1967 for Flos. Since then, Snoopy has become a timeless icon of lighting design. A lamp which has made design history that, when welcomed into our homes, is able to convey the story, elegance and style of who has chosen it. Many years after its first edition, Snoopy Orange has been released in a new version: the base remains in white Carrara marble, the reflector is presented in an unexpected and unique bright orange colour.
The Nesso lamp by Artemide created in the 60’s, is the result of the design by Giancarlo Mattioli and the Gruppo Architetti Urbanisti Città Nuova. It soon became a collector’s item and a world icon of futuristic and industrial design, as it was realised using injection-molded ABS resin, introduced for the first time in 1967. With “a touch of colour and a design inspired by nature”, Nesso springs from Artemide’s visionary identity” and has become part of the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and of the Museum of Modern art.
