Scenographic visions: light becomes art and sculpture in 10 creations from Milan Design Week 2025

Light as a true expressive language—between material experimentation, poetic forms, and avant-garde technology. In a dialogue between art and function, these ten creations unveiled at Milan Design Week 2025 redefine the concept of traditional lamp. No longer limited to illumination, they become luminous sculptures—installations to observe, interpret, and experience. From the translucency of porcelain to the organic density of fused glass, each project reveals a vision of design as a sensitive act, capable of evoking emotion and wonder. A scenographic journey where light takes center stage.

Bomma Fragment Line

With Fragments and Fragment Line, BOMMA unveils Fragmentglass—a precious new material born from reclaimed glass scraps, transformed into luminous bodies that resemble gems sculpted by time. The fragments, fused into irregular yet perfectly smooth panels, celebrate the beauty of imperfection, making each composition unique. While Fragments focuses on compact volumes and sharp cuts reminiscent of sculpted minerals, Fragment Line stretches horizontally like a celestial landscape streaked with glowing shards. Designed by DECHEM Studio, both collections explore the poetic tension between matter and light, balancing design and sustainability.

Cascade Lee Broom
Lee Broom Cascade

A contemporary tribute to traditional lanterns, Lladró’s Cascade reinterprets porcelain through the refined lens of Lee Broom—where essential geometry meets tactile delicacy. Spherical and cylindrical forms, intersected by rhythmic lines, float in space, composing modular and harmonious configurations. When off, the lamp is a sculptural object in opaque white porcelain; when illuminated, it radiates a warm, soft light, transforming into an ethereal lantern charged with emotion. Cascade plays with translucency, gravity, and memory, offering ever-shifting compositions suspended between poetry and precision.

Luceplan Limetry
Limetry Luceplan

Defined by modular elegance and technical precision, Limetry is Luceplan’s new lighting system designed by Alessandro Zambelli. At its core is a rectangular module—available in two sizes—that serves as a building block for architectural compositions, from chandeliers to luminous partitions. Each vertex becomes a junction point, giving rise to changing geometries. Directional spots and prismatic discs add both decorative flair and functional depth, while the dual light emission sculpts the space with clean, rigorous lines. The result is a lighting system that structures, designs, and elevates interiors—a synthesis of engineering and visual lightness.

Flos Maap

Maap, a wall lamp by Erwan Bouroullec for Flos, unfurls like a sweeping pictorial gesture across the space. Its secret lies in the Tyvek covering—a resilient yet moldable material that replaces paper and allows light to filter through organic folds and textures. Each surface becomes a luminous canvas, where gravity and touch shape the design. Available in four sizes, Maap can reach up to four meters in width, offering a dramatic yet weightless presence that transforms spatial perception.

Comet Borkis
Brokis Comet

With Comet, Brokis brings the enchantment of the night sky indoors, blending cutting-edge technology with the ancient craft of blown glass. Designed by Simona Sbordone, the suspension lamps—available in round or square formats and multiple sizes—feature layered glass enriched with silica sand grains, producing an iridescent glow reminiscent of a comet’s tail. Integrated LED sources and a touch-dimmer system offer precise control over ambiance. Whether presented individually or in large-scale installations, each element retains its evocative allure.

Vera Lasvit
Lasvit Vera

Vera, designed by Patrick Jouin for Lasvit, channels the enigmatic spirit of the forest into a vertical light object with a powerful sensory appeal. Two distinct handcrafted glasses meet: one precise and technical, the other fused with an irregular texture evoking tree bark. The result is a layered composition traversed by light, which glides across surfaces, accentuating their texture and expressive depth. A tactile and visual journey that captures the poetic complexity of the natural world.

Doppler D'armes

A collaboration between D’Armes and designer Florian Martin, Doppler is a lighting collection that reflects the movement and fluidity of water. From single and triple pendants to wall sconces and floor lamps, each piece interacts dynamically with light, producing shifting reflections. The shapes evoke droplets, ripples, and liquid horizons—a presence that is both scenic and delicate. Lightness and movement embrace the space, transforming volumes and perceptions.

Potà Cattelani&Smith
 Cattelani&Smith Potà

With Pòta!, Catellani & Smith returns to the essence of its language—craftsmanship, experimentation, and structural lightness. Slender brass rods trace open, dynamic forms where light disperses naturally. Volume emerges between solid and void, between structure and air. Each composition is born from a delicate balance, where the material remains minimal and light takes center stage.

Cygnet Anastiassades

Cygnet is a luminous sculpture inspired by the geometry of flight. Two equilateral paper triangles join in an essential form, suspended like a kite in space. Hidden light animates the composition with ethereal softness, creating installations that integrate seamlessly with architecture—above a table, along a staircase, or as a centerpiece. Available in two sizes and multiple configurations, Cygnet expresses Michael Anastassiades’ lyrical vision, always balanced between material presence and poetic immateriality.

Tier A-N-D
A-N-D Tier

With Tier, A-N-D explores the intersection of matter and light through a pure, graphic gesture. Designed by Lukas Peet, this pendant lamp in extruded aluminum pairs a grooved reflector with a concealed LED source that emits a soft, uniform glow. The grooved surface subtly diffuses the light, while the modular structure supports horizontal or vertical arrangements with striking architectural clarity. Tier balances technology with rhythm, ideal for contemporary interiors that demand both precision and presence.
