Sculptural and functional dining tables that are the result of contemporary creative combinations. Highly decorative projects that enrich domestic environments with natural and precious materials, rich textures and organic shapes of tops and bases. These solutions harmoniously accommodate moments of conviviality as well as everyday tasks, such as studying and working, between aesthetic research and performance, monumentality and solidity.
Clockwise, Michael Anastassiades' first design for Tacchini, is a table with a monolithic and monumental, yet simple and ingenious character. Made entirely of marble or ash wood, it is in fact characterized by the alternating arrangement of the legs, which seem almost to chase each other dancing, and by their positioning in the corners of the top.
Cappellini's Bottle is also made entirely of marble, in white Carrara or black Marquinia finish or even two-tone (combining the two colors between the top and the base). The name is a clear reference to the shape of the base, inspired by the profile of a bottle; the top is round and slightly tapered, and results in extreme visual lightness.
Adrien's table, a 2024 novelty by Poliform, can be round or rectangular. It is already capable of establishing itself as a contemporary icon thanks to its archetypal design enlivened by the asymmetrical position of the legs, enhancing the refinement of its essential lines with high-quality finishes: solid wood or metal for the base, marble or veneer for the top.
Medusa, by Mogg, follows a similar logic by combining an essential and thin wooden top with a decorative and impactful metal base, which recalls-with inverted arches in sequence- the tentacles of a jellyfish ('medusa' in Italian). A combination that makes it capable of updating more classic environments or enhancing decidedly modern spaces.
The base of Loom reveals a similar sculptural essence: in fact, the highly decorative dining table signed by Baxter is characterized by a weave of metal blades that supports the transparent glass top worked according to the glass fusing technique. Different textures embrace each other giving rise to abstract and geometric shapes in a sophisticated stylistic exercise.
Speaking of texture, Molecola by Gallotti & Radice celebrates the materiality of wood with a base formed by hand-spatulated cylinders. A mixture of natural stone powders creates a unique series of ripples on the surface that are the pure result of craftsmanship. The sinuous design of the base, enhanced by the 15mm tempered clear glass top, is inspired by atoms moving fluidly to bond and form the molecule.
It could only be called Terra, this table-sculpture by Collection Particulière, made of clay, specifically Lombard terracotta, in a limited edition of 12 pieces. Pronounced profiles and a soft shape that seems inspired by the organic silhouettes found in nature are enhanced by the typical streaks of the material, with warm and enveloping colors.
Equally made in Italy, Laguna 72 by Reflex is a table with a sumptuous and scenic face. The name is a clear homage to the Veneto region, where the table is made using the artisanal technique of fused glass. Shaped by hand, the material gives life to different shades of color from every angle: alchemical magic.
The meeting of seemingly distant materials gives birth to Gotham by Henge, which combines a refined octagonal top of extra-clear glass with slender triangular legs forged from Sand Cast Pewter metal. The hand-finished workmanship ensures that no two tables are alike.
Zieta's Parova collection also boasts a similar uniqueness. Resulting from the juxtaposition of two contrasting materials, wood, full of warmth, and steel, much colder, it is characterized by a monolithic base full of personality made with the FiDU technique, typical of the brand: compressed air injected into steel shapes, according to a process of “controlled deformation” that results in one-of-a-kind elements of unusual design.
