The “light Castiglioni touch”, wrote the Domus magazine to describe Diabolo, an adjustable suspension lamp first modelled in paper, then cardboard, before being crafted in 1998 in white, powder coated aluminium. It is the last object conceived by Achille Castiglioni for Flos. It definitely ranks among the most interesting creations by the designer, for both its peculiar history and some innovative technical details. The inspiration comes from the movement of the classic Chinese yo-yo in which two elements are spun on the same string.
A minimalist volume and a perfect balance between the elements. The iconic Snoopy table lamp, inspired by the famed cartoon character conceived by Shultz, narrates, with its shapes, Achille Castiglioni's incredible (and often ironical) flair. Designed in 1967, it still represents the symbol of a timeless classicism and of an excellent lighting research. The light, enclosed within a rounded painted aluminium shade, delicately lightens up the worktop and the slanted cylindrical base, enhancing the veins of white marble.
Just like in a dance of perfect shapes, the IC Lights collection of lamps combines poetry and lightness, entirely disclosing Michael Anastassiades' essential and magnetic style. Its frame in chromed steel or brushed brass portrays the whole beauty of the unique and ethereal luminous sphere that, in the different versions, gives rise to refined and suggestive atmospheres. A luminous masterpiece that appears to be floating in the air.
With grace and elegance Michael Anastassiades brings to life the minimalist aesthetics of Captain Flint. Combining the classicism of brass and the white Carrara marble, the cone shade supported by a tubular structure enables a delicate, direct and directional light diffusion. The softness of light is enhanced by the elegant and geometrical silhouette of the lamp, perfect to trace intimate and profound atmospheres.
