Antonio Citterio designed Noonu, a flexible modular system of upholstery that takes its name from an atoll in the Maldives, and continues the revolutionary concept of the “peninsula” sofa, started with his previous projects. The four elements of the large seats, two traditional geometric shapes and two innovative ones, the curved “piano” shape, and the rounded one, “the sail”, offer unlimited customisations, in dynamic harmony with the spaces: organic shapes that model as an archipelago.
The impression of floating is suggested by the disappearance of the sofa structure: the big “island” floats in the space, its line is elegant, sinuous, a natural chaise-longue that plays with coral and blue shades of the marine world. Like sails full to the wind, a range of cushions is unfolded on the comfortable tilted backrest, to be chosen in contrasting tones or in harmony with the seat; an original cylinder, fastened by straps, guarantees a solid armrest or headrest.
Patricia Urquiola’s creativity has developed Tufty-Time, an extremely versatile modular system based on the simple pouf module. It updates, with verve and elegance, the Chesterfield and the capitonné styles.
The elements fit together in a game of volumes and surfaces that emphasize its flexibility: geometric shapes with a soft texture, traditional sofas, armchairs, chaise longue, angular and island elements that build together the comfort space.
With the Charles seating system, Antonio Citterio celebrates the design of the 50s and 60s. The concept is based on the versatile modular capacity: sixteen different elements in terms of shape, size and characteristics, combined in a wide variety of linear, angular or peninsula compositions. Spatiality, innovation and contemporaneity. The essential and refined design finds its strengths in the “inverted L” feet, in the large single seat cushion as well in the elegant line of the armrest; characteristic elements that have made it iconic.
